While the Presidential whirlwind of campaigning proceeds apace, what is really going on in the economy and in unemployment is getting the mushroom treatment by the Obama administration. That is, kept in the basement, in the dark, behind a curtain of indifference.
Or to be more specific about it: the current 8.2 percent unemployment rate understates the bad news because it doesn’t capture all the people who have given up and dropped out of the labor force.
The mushroom, Wizard of Oz treatment: Please Ignore the Man Behind the Curtain, who is pulling the curtain over the eyes of the American people with a big smile, a big voice, and a big lie.
